
Meet the Artist
Dumay Gorham is a Wilmington, North Carolina native and an accomplished metal artist and designer with a background in Industrial Design. He is a graduate of North Carolina State University and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Early in his career, Dumay worked for a product design firm outside of Atlanta before returning to North Carolina in 1999.For nearly two decades, Dumay has specialized in welding and metal fabrication, developing a diverse body of work that blends technical precision with artistic expression. Based at ACME Art Studios in downtown Wilmington, he focuses on custom metal sculpture and design projects created on commission.
Dumay’s work incorporates a wide range of metals and finishing techniques, with projects spanning from intricate tabletop pieces to large-scale public art installations. His scope includes three-dimensional sculpture, custom furniture, architectural accents, water features, and repair and refurbishment work. In addition, Dumay has contributed to numerous film and television productions as a special effects technician and welder.
His work can be found throughout the Cape Fear region, including public art installations for UNC Wilmington, the City of Wilmington, the Towns of Southport and Wrightsville Beach, the New Hanover County Arboretum, Airlie Gardens, Oak Island, the Children’s Museum of Wilmington, and all three North Carolina Aquariums. Dumay has also completed projects for private homes, gardens, organizations, and businesses such as Live Oak Bank, Embassy Suites, Marriott, Whole Foods, and Wave Transit Authority. Select works have been commissioned and shipped to clients worldwide.
